The 1st CD contains play-along exercises from Volume 1, so that, as you are learning a particular technique you hear how it should sound and learn the correct rhythms. It is essential for a beginning banjo player and highly useful for intermediate to advanced players.

The 2nd CD contains each of the songs in Volume 2. Obviously, this one is useful for learning the tunes with which you might not be familiar. However, even for the tunes you already know, it is particularly valuable as a means of perfecting the timing of the tunes. You can hear and practice exactly how the notes and beats are spaced. No more omitting beats or adding extra beats that cause you to be out of synch with the other players!

The CD's are computer generated, rather than studio recordings of a band. While this makes them less "entertaining", the timing of every single note in every single song and exercise is absolutely perfect — something quite valuable for banjo players (or any musician) of all skill levels.
