Scott designed this method for the beginning banjo player, one like himself, who didn't have a teacher.  The book begins with the basics and theory.  

The student is encouraged to choose to study either rhythm or notes.  The chapters, to be mastered lesson by lesson, will allow the student to achieve not only a basic understanding of how to play the banjo, but how to listen and play by ear.  You will learn
